Oh, you've been so close, the straits where Europe and Africa meet (while being kept apart). We were not far from there last month.

How many tasks must one life labour?

What is there left to prove to any king?

Herculean questions to live into,

moving mountains, shifting sands? xx

Thank you so much Veronika! Next time I’m in your neighborhood, I’ll head over for tea and some wording. Voicing. You live in a beautiful part of the world. The windy world. The energy is incredible. Hercules left us some deeper inquiry. I did my best to be his messenger. Thanks for sitting in the spaces between the words. Thank you for your support. As always. Say hi to Josh! 🙏❤️

Your papou and his storytelling talents surely are part of your bones, Jamie! You are an awesome poetic storyteller yourself! I love how you weave the words! They speak of ease and challenge at the same time. Life is a big oxymoron. A bitter sweet symphony. Sending lots of blessings and thank your for shining your light 💕

Ah Jamie, travelling the universe, asking the questions, living the questions. 💖

What a wonder - full time you had. I can feel that "deeper sensuality" you tasted bursting forth from your prose and poetry.

Your relationship with your grandfather sounds very special. ❤️ He opened the door to a new world for you, which you have spent your life exploring. Words and poetry, oceans and lands.

Upon putting my glasses on for closer inspection I see the selfie was in fact not you but a monkey. 😉 Gosh, I just love monkeys, could watch them for hours. We obviously don't have them in NZ! xx

What makes you think that was a monkey? Lol. The monkeys were hilarious! Thanks for reading Jo as always. Thanks for being part of this sharing community that supports each other in the spaces between the words. Sensuality definitely flows through the words of travel and wonder. My grandfather was definitely a gift! Thanks for sharing the gratitude! Thanks for being here 🙏❤️

Hi Jamie, The "deeper sensuality" of travel — in her blue waters as she is grooves with the moon 😊. Where "mythology marries existence", the mermaids of Atlantis. Your soul and the man being of both worlds, you capture that beautifully in your reflection. And the poem is exquisite, in an "ocean which wildly screams for my surrender". 💙 🌊 🙏

She definitely arrived in all the shades of blue! It was a wonderful trip, and I love how mythology weaves into the story and expression of the landscape and the people! How it intersects my own story! It’s one hell of a burning ring of fire! Stay warm down there. Thank you so much Simone for reading. For your wonderful support. For being here. 🙏❤️

What a treat — travel. We do become part of our landscape. I am keeping warm, in my little ring of fire 🎶. Frosty mornings have started. Still breezes and the sun means I am still getting wet, playing with the water sprites in the waves. Soothing for my body and soul — she offers me clarity when the internal waters are troubled. Thank you too, for the connection. 🙏 🌊 💙

Dear Jamie,

Ah, what a remembering, what an honoring of those who crossed dark oceans in search of a better life. Somehow, you traveled with your mother, and now, we travel with you. Thank you! There are times we must return, with one foot in the old world and one in the new. Sometimes, going back is the only way forward.

Just like Hercules, beginning his twelve labors with the Nemean Lion, invulnerable, impossible, we are asked to face what cannot be overcome in order to be transformed, strangle the beast and wore its skin. “I arrive here as a confluence of both.

The shadow and the growth.

Born of two. Becoming three.

To disappear into the sand of one.

Presence of Being.”

I loved this one, your poems inspire me as always, and that opening photo, ah!

Hands are never just hands, I dedicated a post to Hands (Manifesters); they are gates, portals, and poems. Thank you for sharing this: the sensuality of travel, the myth that moves through memory, and your grandfather’s knees, where story begins. Enjoy the summer, nose first!

Thank you so much Katerina. There’s always something ancestral here underneath the words. Something searching for the old inside of the new. Remembering. Learning inside of the labours. The expressions of life. Looking back to look ahead. If only just to find the present. I love the photo of the hands too. Reaching for connection. Only a small space between. It might be oceans but we are all so much closer than we realize. Yes, my nose always leads me first in all of my travels! The sweet scent of June is almost here. Thanks for being here. 🙏❤️

Mmm! I love those last lines: "To be fiercely claimed | by the incision of a new ocean. | Which wildly screams | for my surrender." Always the surrender, yeah?

I don't know why, exactly, but I wondered about a poem made from last lines:

"To the new?

Exploring into an expression

that creates the flesh of a new map.

Healing and revealing.

Opening up. Another way

to taste the scent in the sweating salt

of a different awareness.

Presence of Being.

Which wildly screams

for my surrender."

Surrender to it!! Thanks for sharing. XO

Thanks Danielle! I think that’s the beauty of poetry. Reading it, and allowing the words to meet us where we are. Poetry is what poetry does. Poetry is what poetry brings. In that sweet confession to ourselves, there’s always a deeper surrender. Some thing you write about well. It’s a soul Journey. Sensual and alive. The presence of being. Thanks so much for reading and for being - here! You must be on that final countdown for school to be finished. Another kind of surrender. Blessings 🙏❤️

Dear Poet,

Your words are rich, reflective pools of light – windows into something deeper. Woven with history, myth and a profound sense of place, they carry both movement and meaning. I love how you stand at those pillars, Jamie, at the threshold of past and present, land and sea, shadow and light, holding the immense tension of those opposites with such grace.

Your reflections on journeying – above and below, within and without - feel like a well of wisdom flowing in motion for within each line, each verse, I find a lamp, a lifeboat, a ladder (thanks, Rumi), an offering of surrender, discovery and transformation. May June, and this season of transition and deep presence, bring you clarity, deeper renewal and more wild, mystical grace of the unknown.

Through my favourite Jungian lens, your rich reflections I note are more than myth or travel – to me they represent an archetypal journey of self-discovery. In standing between words and worlds, honouring both yet moving beyond them, I sense you stepping ever closer to what Jung would call true individuation. Wow! You just inspire me, constantly!

Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful art and your beautiful heart. And last but not least, reading through all these wonderful comments and rich reflections makes my heart smile. ❤️🙏

Ah dear poeteer! You are so kind in the depth of your responses! Thank you. Poetry is what poetry brings. She is what she does. Beyond the words. Inside those spaces where we catch a glimpse. Being. Two places at once. Pillars. Being made manifest. If only for a moment. Inside. Noticing. No need to understand. A deeper knowing writing through us. Not to look for it. To allow it. June calls. I invite her in. Transcending. Becoming. What we always have been.

Happy New Moon. See you in the spaces of book number three now! Hope the holiday had you lost in sacred allowance. Bless you Deborah 🙏❤️

what a stanza! and a wonderful jouney. Morocco is on my bucket list.

"I stand at the edge of a climax.

Clarity leaving a cage to enter the fire

of a new way to sea.

An irrevocable gate.

Where mind will fracture.

Language will break.

To be fiercely claimed

by the incision of a new ocean.

Which wildly screams

for my surrender."
