Jamie, as a Lunatic Lover myself I enjoyed this post to the fullest. Your poetic storytelling leaves me in awe. What a perfect celebration for this beautiful celestial being! I am sure she smiles from above when she receives your song of Love with open arms. Keep writing! This is epic.

My fellow “selenophile”! Thanks for your support always. Out here on the lunatic fringe we learn lot about life, love and mystery. A trifecta. The moon knows. In windows. In doors. In mirrors. In soul. Smiles! From within and above. Thanks for being celestially present! 🙏💝

Jamie, This Ode to the moon really shot me back to my childhood days of lying in my back yard on moonlit nights. I had my Cub Scout binoculars and a book of constellations. A waxing gibbous leading to the full moon in a few days were the best and conditions that weren't cloudy made it even better. I would do this for an hour or two or until my mom called me to come in. The face of La Luna hasn't changed since I was an 8 year old budding astronomer. There's comfort in that.

I was on my back last night James! In a dark sky zone here. Counting stars. Counting blessings. Whispering to the moon. Just loud enough so she knows I am am here. Not so loud as to scare her away. Waxing to a full heart. Thanks for reading and reaching out. Those boy scout days were a gift for me too! 🙏❤️

Hi Jamie, I just smiled all the way through listening to your gorgeous ode — I feel the yearning that you capture, her reflection seeped into the shards of our be-ing. Just gorgeous, the poem is superb. We are of the Earth and her Moon — and Sun. Star dust. I so enjoy your posts and considering the questions. Thank you. Sending love and blessings. 🙏 ❤️😊

Jamie, this is ab-soul-utely exquisite … a lunar symphony! For every word, every line of your ode doesn’t just speak to Mother Moon, but listens deeply for Her in the silence between tides. Wow! You’ve woven myth, memory, longing and deep revelation into a tapestry that shimmers with salt and shadow, dark chocolate and wine! This isn’t just storytelling and poetry, it’s devotion. A soul’s offering.

And I love, love, love how your Luna isn’t just a distant celestial body but a living archetype Here, a mirror, a muse, a mystery. She’s felt deeply in the marrow, tasted in the brine, glimpsed in the fleeting curves of disappearing reflections. And you, dear poet, are Her witness. Her scribe. Her lover. Her companion in the dark.

Also thanks so much for reminding us that to love Mother Moon is to accept Her phases, Her absences, Her presence, Her wildness. Her whole fluid, cyclical, elusive nature. That to know Her is never to possess Her, but to meet Her only in the moment … however brief, however elusive.

Through my archetypal lens, I note that Luna becomes the living symbol of the unconscious with Her phases echoing our own inner tides, Her absences reminding us of the fertile void where, again, our own transformation begins. I love how she shimmers as Anima, how She dwells in the inner world. She who guides us through our dreams, our longings and into the sacred unknown.

Honestly, your ode feels like a dialogue with Her, a courtship with the soul’s own reflection! I'm so impressed! And I’m going to return again and again, for one cannot digest such richness in one sitting alone. Believe me when I say: I’m wholly inspired!

Ah, so you’ve left your laughter in a tin can by the window. She’ll come by. She always does … for those who know how to wait with wonder. With love and soul-ar reverence from one deeply moon-touched poet to another. Full moon blessings. 🙏❤✨

Anima! You Jungians catch me all the time! To lean into that far side of the moon. My own. Lux Occulta. Hidden light releasing from shadows. Alchemy. Salt. Wisdom and bitterness. Marie Louise von Franz said “the higher form of love is taken with a grain of salt”. I need a Jungian translation for that one lol!

Can we meet our anima or just undress her? To meet our anima is a journey. A wow of wonder. Full. Journey. Not for the faint of heart. An unfolding. Growth-ing. All the Marias. All the Mares. All the wines of letting go. To know. To un-know. A soul offering. Luna. An ode. To life. To love. The ascending and descending nodes. The tides of arrival. Of departure. Of full on presence. Of total disappearance. All in gratitude.

A can. A jar. Left at the window. Maybe the door. If she ever arrives for that deeper conversation. Til then. I look up at Selene. I smile. I breathe. I write on!

Your whole comment is a poem! Thank you green witching poet of soul! Hugs 🫂 ❤️🌚 Moon hugs 💝

Thanks Deborah

Well, here's this Jungian poet's take ...

MVLF is gently reminding us: don’t lose our grounding. Stay awake to complexities, the shadows and all the human imperfections that come with love ... even love of the most luminous kind.

In Jungian terms, it’s a call to balance the 'archetypal' with the 'actual'. To love deeply, yes, for sure, but not blindly. To honour sacred connection while keeping our feet on the earth.

That probably sums it up best.

Though I must admit, it's not always easy for this poet ... whose feet can often be found hovering a few inches of the ground.

Ah, your words too ... poems in the plural! I'm so inspired, Jamie, that I'm going to try writing a poem inside a poem next! 🫂❤️🌚

Love this! The gifts of imperfection are celestially present. Harmonizing. Parts. To a whole. Yet the whole is more than its parts. Dammit Deborah my feet don’t want to touch the ground either and it makes dancing hard. Even barefoot on green grass. Thanks for this. Shadow dancing with “reality”. Believing is seeing. Loving these wings of words! Hugs 🫂

The discussion goes on... it is not my thesis but I borrow the thought (the experience?) that evocation of the Sun must be balanced with the call of Moon tide, in life as poetry. Our world is better known perhaps as Ocean? It's 'Turtles all the way down'. Smile or as you say 'laughter on the window sill', that old can not tied to our tail.

Jamie Millard's avatar

Ah my friend the laughter of a poem that is never completed. What wants to be written through us that we still need to serve? If we dont ask this question consciously it will arrive-speaking through us unconsciously as projections. We have only borrowed this skin. Sooner or later we must return the loan. Harmonized somewhere between flesh and soul. An ocean that sometimes get crossed if we are brave enough to invite it. Bless you a Luna sighting and meeting today! You are a blessing to connect with Phillip 🌚🫂

This piece is lunar alchemy. A symphony of longing and presence that turns the moon into a mirror for the soul. Each line pulls like a tide. Some truths live in metaphor. Some love belongs only to moonlight. Thank you, Jamie, for capturing both.

The most authentic dialogue between a man and his anima as I have ever read. Beguiling, mysterious, and ever elusive. "Maybe the most she can ever do is throw shadows at you." She will have her way with you and your solar consciousness in the end. Not eclipse but encounter is the way to go. Thanks for letting us meet her in you.

I adore this one! It reads as a love letter to some enchantress who has stolen your heart. It is ever so romantic and lovely! If it were a woman, she would be lucky to receive your heart so.

And I am slightly obsessed because I was reading the other day and I came across the word "cuore" and I thought so myself, "OHhhhhhhh!" It all made sense and I thought of you, of course. Now I wish I could remember where I found it!! Thank you for sharing! XO
