Dear Poet, this speaks to me in that doubly delicious way I know best ... as a poet and a therapist too! For as I listened (and read along), I found myself lifting my archetypal lens and adjusting it, musing about the kaleidoscope of presence itself. That moment when something more than us arrives in the room … whether that happens with a client, a friend, a poem … and how we feel it long, long before we can even begin to name it.

Oh, how your beautiful words trace this sensation so clearly! When you ask, "Do we see it or see into it?" something within stirs. And then, "Many ways to be seen without eyes," which feels like the very definition of presence in my own words and work. And later, "The body knows when it touches soul," which is exactly how it feels when this sublime encounter becomes mutual … vis à vis, face to face, presence meeting presence.

Your poem has sent me wandering down my own rabbit holes of meaning, only to discover that all the tunnels connect, the labyrinth opens, and suddenly, suddenly I’m standing in the centre of everything … feeling the presence of it all looking back. And then it hits me: the love, the depth, the warmth, the care.

Thank you so much, Jamie, for putting presence into words. Vis à vis indeed. Bravo! 🙏💖✨

Dear poet. Thank you. For blending into - the lines. For a presence of going in between the lines. For seeing into. For listening. For reading. For sharing. Thanks for Being- Here. Words paint. Biology blends into art. Poetry is what poetry brings and as this hand that writes through me attempts to get to the other side of language, you are there. Uncovering meaning. Something more. Arrives. Something arrives within the words. Do we see it or see into it? Thanks so much Deborah for opening the door to that labyrinth ❤️💫🙏

Aww, I came last year for "The Poets" and I'm delighted to have found you! During my quiet stretch from Yule to Imbolc, I stumbled across that wonderful "Medium" video of you and Nicole. It felt like such a gift! Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful art and beautiful heArts. 🙏💖✨

Jamie Millard's avatar

Thanks! Am honoured! Right back at you! It’s always fun reading out loud and letting the words come alive blending into the lines. The medium day for us to collaborate was fun. Bless you Deborah. Poetry is what poetry brings and you bring the ripple! 💫❤️

As C.S. Lewis writes, "how can the gods see us face to face until we have faces". I am reminded of what my Zurich analyst told me, "one day your complexes, carved into your face will be embraced as the contours of your character, the fault lines of your story". This piece is a lovely reminder.

Jamie Millard's avatar

Thanks Muriel! Ageing is definitely a verb. To do it vs to let it happen. Thanks for Being- Here. 🙏❤️

'Six palms to a cubit', goodness me Jamie, ancient metric for therapy!

I am too deaf now to hear music through my ears, but I woke from a real dream this morning, having been just in time to hear a song.

Here for you, a tribute and thanks.

'The Muse and Her Song'

--- 'The Other Side of the Mirror' ---

Night gathered us the other side of the mirror

Where she sang an honour to the tune

That some loveliness return.

Beautiful Phillip! Thanks for Being - Here. On the other side of the mirror! 🙏❤️💫

Oh my. Stunning. There is so much here. Sometimes I feel like I am reading from, in, and about a dream state. I love the part about the frame. I have been thinking of that. How people including me live in their own reality and frequency state and what one perceives from that place. Then there is the power of eye gazing…into one’s own or someone else’s and the depth that may or may not be seen…what happens when the gaze softens and the faces seem to change. Of course there is also aging…and the voice of time on form and how real or unreal that is as well. Thank you Jamie.

Jamie Millard's avatar

Thanks for diving into the lines and spaces Terra! I’m slowly learning to do ageing as opposed to letting ageing happen and somewhere in the spaces between. Thanks for living into the questions and for being here. 🙏💫❤️

Hi Jamie, well l listened to your musings in the predawn with my eyes closed so l guess l felt into your presence. We are conditioned to see, and as you explore … what is returned when we experience with merely one portal, and perhaps multiple perspectives and versions of self are the norm after all? “The body knows when it touches soul.” I know l am embracing getting older, the “illusion” … “something is smiling back”, and how wonderful that we only ever see enough to keep our curiosity and adventure. Let the mystery and light keep pouring soul’s light out of our eyes. And given l have so many, l can best view the lines on the face as life’s etchings of delight. Have a great day. 🙏🌀💙😄

Let’s keep growing those lines! Wisdom grows down into the roots of this earth. Into the depths of spirit we grow. Blending into all of the lines. Thank you so much for being here Simone 🙏💫❤️

Simone Senisin's avatar

Yep, let’s do it, the lines run deep 🤣 Yes, wisdom does grow down into the roots of the Earth, l love that. Thank you too, for being here Jamie 🙏🏼🌀💙

So much to consider in this, Jamie. I love your repeated use of questions in each stanza--for the rhythm, and for the pauses. You invite us to consider more deeply. To see--and--to see into. Thank you!

Thanks Robin 💫❤️

Jamie, there is so much here in the spaces between the words, between the worlds. Presence needs no face, I agree. We are so trained to witness this world through our eyes, and to see the world through our own lens, that we often get blind to the way others see the world. Maybe we don't even want to see other people's worlds, because it would mean that our own view might change. And still, we can only connect when we truly see each other. Beyond words. Sometimes words are in the way. That's when poetry steps in. Leaving room for the soul to roam. For the frequency to flow. Maybe, our view is attachment. I listened to a podcast today, where it was said that our attachment to things and people is actually blocking the very thing from coming. Do we get blind when our view is too narrow? Manifesting is about feeling, so maybe we need to move from eyes to heart. So here I am, sharing my view of some lines that stood out to me: "Age has found its face" you say. If presence is truly faceless, then age is just a projection, isn't it? Is age even a thing? Maybe it is merely a label. A judgement. Because Love is eternal. Sending huge blessings and thank you so much for sharing this beautiful article, I love the picture - the eyes are the mirror to the soul - they say, and your soul truly shines! Like Mo, I am also a big fan of your recordings. You should have a podcast!

Jamie Millard's avatar

Wow! Beautiful words. You’ve got me thinking. Thank you so much Sadhbh! Age has found its face. Ageing is a verb. We actively do it as opposed to letting it happen to us. We find our face. Somehow it seems to be on the other side of the mirror. Soul definitely shines through. Thank you for shining your light. Thank you for blending into all of the lines. Thanks for being here. 🙏💫❤️

Ahhhh gorgeous Jamie. What a flow of thought and questions and presence. Dreamy. Floating on your words. Thank you from one face to another, one heart to another.

"To see a face. Do we read all the lines.

There are many views of the same scene.

Many ways to be seen without eyes.

To see into the skin.

To scent a taste in the wise silence

of spaciousness."

Beautiful!

🙏💖✨

Thanks Jo for being here to blend into the lines. Enjoy the lines of summer. 🙏❤️

I want to rent a room inside your head, Jamie. I think I would really enjoy the view. Your words don’t just describe, they enter. It makes me wonder if we ever truly see anything, or only meet it in the space between seer and seen. Maybe the eyes look, but the soul is what recognizes, and in that recognition, something shared appears.

Jamie Millard's avatar

Hey thanks so much Sam. That space in between. Maybe that’s what life is? We definitely enter into it. Thanks for being here. 🙏❤️

I don't know about anybody else, but I see a lot of mischief in those eyes, playfulness and wonder.

So weird that the only way we can see our own face is through a mirror. Are we not meant to see ourselves directly, only the faces of others? Does this help us learn about ourselves - what we see in others?

So many questions, so little time. Thanks for sharing! XO

Jamie Millard's avatar

Thanks so much Danielle! Cuoreosity in these eyes! In the end, we all need a mirror. Thanks for being here and for reading into the spaces. 🙏❤️
