The coast. The ocean shore. Where the fire of soul and land meets the horizon of water and sky. The four elements colliding in the unfolding energetic communion of becoming. Where visible meets invisible. That place where what is known touches the wild mystery of the unknown. We can see farther out at the consciousness of the frayed edge of the awareness of who we are.

The strand. The sensual beach where the sweat of sand slowly kisses the wet brine of the living tongue of waves. A meeting place where both shape each other. Both moving inwards across the opening verge. Both asked to feel. Both asked to respond. The edges revealing the poetry where silence and sound meet in the collective sigh of naked truth.

At the Ocean’s Edge

I’m only sighing
Bark stripped away
from the curves of this strand
that invites me into the waves

My swimming tongue
trusts what my hands and lips
have already known
My nose has tasted first

Never needing my eyes
in this parting of seas
through an unfolding verge
where even blind men can see
